Duration: 1 hour

Location: Alte Kulturen | Sammlungen im Schloss Hohentübingen, Burgsteige 11, 72070 Tübingen

Established in 1477, the University of Tübingen boasts a remarkable collection of artifacts. This guided tour highlights the museum's finest collections. They include ancient animal miniatures made from mammoth ivory, estimated around 40,000 years old — the earliest works of art known to humankind (UNESCO World Heritage Site). Other remarkable pieces include findings from the Neolithic site Pile Dwellings and the Celtic fortress of Heuneburg. The tour features a significant collection of antiquities and an exhibit known as the „Tübinger Waffenläufer“("Tübingen Weapon Runner"). Highlights from the ancient Egyptian collection include a sacrificial chamber from the Old Kingdom and a unique European coffin with a star clock.
